Tobacco products are required to have warnings on their boxes, and experts believe that putting things like pictures of open-heart surgery on candy bar wrappers could turn customers away from eating them and help fight obesity.
Researchers from Cambridge University found that when graphic messages about the risks of heart disease, obesity, and cancer were placed on candy bar wrappers that seven in 10 people were more likely to choose a piece of fruit instead. The study follows ideas for warning labels on soda and alcohol. Personally, I think this is a dumb idea!
