The Carr Fire in Northern California has residents relying on each other in ways, we never could have imagined. And the same goes for our furry friends too. Crews helping fight the fire came upon a pair of survivors...a cat and a chicken.
Both the animals were found in the doorway of a home "huddled together for safety and support" according to firefighters. Both had burn injuries. Grass Valley Fire Chief Mark Buttron said workers "found a dish and provided the two newfound friends with fresh water."
There was an animal carrier in the house so the cat and the chicken rode, in the same crate, to SPCA. Fortunately, the animals are both expected to make full recoveries.
