Nina Dobrev is setting the record straight on her dating life following her split from ex-fiancé Shaun White.
The Vampire Diaries alum recently sparked romance rumors with Zac Efron after they were seen together last month while on a boat with famous friends like Chace Crawford, Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh, People reports. However, she is shutting down the speculation right away.
TMZ caught up to Dobrev at LAX on Wednesday (October 1), noting how it "must be tough living everything out in public" amid her recent breakup from the retired professional snowboarder. The 36-year-old actress is seemingly remaining optimistic, saying, "I'm excited for the future, and the only thing that's guaranteed is change."
When asked about the photos of her and the High School Musical alum, 37, soaking up sun with their pals, she scoffed and quickly denied that there was anything romantic between them, confirming that they are just friends.
People confirmed in September that Dobrev and White had called off their engagement and went their separate ways after five years together. The pair went public with their relationship in 2020 and got engaged in October 2024. An insider told the Daily Mail that the split wasn't due to a dramatic end but rather because they had different plans for the immediate future.
"Shaun is retired and has had his last Olympics, he was very ready for marriage and kids and all that comes from that," the source said, adding, "Nina was on board but also very interested in seeing where her acting career was going to go, as that was and is very important to her."
