North Texas Firefighter Rescues Toddler From 2nd Floor Apartment Fire

Early Sunday morning, a firefighter in Granbury, rescued a toddler trapped in a burning apartment. A video of the harrowing rescue shows a firefighter identified as J. Head from the North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department's Engine 26 breaking a second-story window to reach two-year-old Liam Keen, whose screams helped firefighters locate him.

After arriving on scene, firefighters quickly set up a ladder to the second-floor window, with Head climbing up to break the glass. A second firefighter, Serratelli, helped guide the child out of the building while the team encouraged Liam to follow the sound of their voices. A fellow firefighter noted that the child’s cries were a good sign as they brought him safely down the ladder.

Following the rescue, Liam received immediate medical attention at the scene before being airlifted to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth for further care. His mother, Phylicia Keen, expressed deep gratitude for the firefighters, saying, "I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for getting my baby out as quickly as you did." The Granbury Volunteer Fire Department noted on social media that although they are volunteers, their team trains to professional standards to handle situations like this one.
