Brian May is in one of the largest British rock bands in history, and he's passing the torch to a new generation. On Wednesday (October 16), the Queen guitarist posted a picture with The Last Dinner Party on Instagram, hailing them as "new British Rock Royalty."

"I got to meet the new British Rock Royalty tonight - The Last Dinner Party - and they completely smashed it tonight at the Eventim Apollo," he wrote in the photo's caption. "What a great show ! What a joy !!! Thanks Emily for inviting me. That was just what I needed - a good ol' dose of Rock Tonic. Folks, you have to see these guys."

He later posted a video clip of the band performing, writing: "The Last Dinner Party smashing it tonight. Wow ! "

The Last Dinner Party blew the roof off iHeartRadio's ALTer Ego and released their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy earlier this year. See May's Instagram posts below.

In Queen news, Sony Music acquired the band's music catalog, among other rights, over the summer for a record-breaking amount:  £1 billion (around $1.27 billion). The only revenue excluded from the deal is live performances, which founding members May and Roger Taylor, who still actively tour with Adam Lambert, will retain.
