Teachers Want Parents To Know These Things About The First Day Of School!

It's that time of the year again!

Kids, parents, and teachers are getting ready to go back to school!

The first day of school is always a little nerve wrecking, but nothing compares to the VERY FIRST day of school!

Sending your child to Kindergarten is a big transition and teachers want to help parents out!

These are 5 things Kindergarten teachers want parents to know when it comes to the first day of school.

1. Know That They Are Safe

All Kindergarten teachers want parents to know that your child is in a safe environment. Of course it's hard when you're not there and you're wondering if your child is being taken care of, but these teachers want parents to reassure you that your child is safe.

2. Don't Linger

As a parent, it's always hard to let go when you child is crying so your first thought is that you're helping them by staying until they've calmed down. However, teachers say this makes things worse! Teachers advise that instead of lingering you tell your child that you love them and you will be back at a certain time, give them a kiss and then leave. School social worker and mom Erin Chilelli tells Romper, "if you know your child may have a difficult time separating from you on the first day, do a practice run. Help the child become familiar with the new routine. If possible, see if they can meet their teacher beforehand."

3. Have Faith In Their Teacher

Teachers want to remind parents that they are trained professionals. They've gone through years of schooling for this and have had to go through extensive interviews and background checks during the hiring process in order to be able to lead a classroom at your child's school. They want you to let them do their job and always assume the best in your child's teacher.

4. Your Child Will Be Treated With Respect

Teachers want parents to know that children will be treated with courtesy and respect. It's their job to create a nurturing environment for your child to learn.

5. Prepare, Prepare, Prepare

Teachers want you to prepare your child for the transition by talking to them about what to expect. Teachers appreciate involved parents, so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out. They recommend a good bedtime routine so they advise you get your routine down before the school year begins. They even suggest letting your child in on the fun by asking them to pick out their clothes and supplies so they can feel the excitement of the new school year.

The first day of school is exciting and kind of intimidating for both parent and kids, but the teachers are there to calm everyone.

Kindergarten is a big milestone for both the children and parents so hopefully these tips from teachers will help dropping off your little ones a little easier!
