Taylor Swift Debuts 'New Year's Day' Performance During 'Scandal'

Just hours before the long-awaited release of Reputation, Taylor Swift gave curious fans one more taste of what was to come: the first live performance of the emotional piano ballad "New Year's Day," which aired in the middle of Thursday night's (November 9) episode of Scandal on ABC.

"Don't read the last page/ But I stay when it's hard or it's wrong or we're making mistakes/ I want your midnights/ But I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day," Swift sings on the understated closing track of her new album.

Swift played "New Year's Day" surrounded by fans in her Rhode Island home who were swaying and already singing along to the intimate love song.
