This May Be The Most Expensive Cup Of Coffee In The Country

Cup of fresh coffee.

While some folks are satisfied with a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte, others are in search of the finest cup of coffee around. So how much would you pay for a really good one? At Klatch Coffee in Rancho Cucamonga, California, they’re hoping the answer is a whole bunch because they’re about to be serving $55 cups.

So what makes this coffee so expensive? This flavorful brew is made with an extremely rare bunch of beans. The Esmeralda Geisha Cañas Verde Natural beans were found growing on one estate in Panama. A hundred pounds were sold at international auction for $601 a pound! This SoCal coffee shop got their hands on 11 pounds of the beans and they were the only place in the U.S. to score any.

“The moment I tried Esmeralda Geisha 601, I knew it was something I wanted to share with coffee lovers in the U.S.A,” Klatch’s owner Mike Perry explains. “A taste of this varietal provides a coffee experience unlike any other — its notes of peach, blackberry, jasmine and other fruit flavors are so bold, so flavorful, even an untrained palate will find it remarkable.”

And you’d have to be that impressed by this buzzy brew to be willing to shell out $55 for a cup. So if you’re interested, don’t miss your chance. Afterall, 11 pounds will only make around 250 eight-ounce cups of coffee.
