Selena Gomez revealed yesterday that she had a kidney transplant over the summer due to her Lupus and while she is fine now, things apparently were really bad before she got the transplant.
Sources tell TMZ Selena was rushed to a hospital in Chicago back in May due to kidney failure. Selena was in the Windy City to watch her boyfriend The Weeknd perform, and apparently, he stayed by her side through out the whole ordeal.
According to the insider, it was after that incident that Selena was put on the transplant list, and she eventually got an organ from her good friend, actress Francia Raisa.
TMZ also reports that the surgery was actually quite hard on Francia who is a “health nut” who loves to exercise, but wasn’t allowed to do any physical activity for two months. In fact, she’s just now getting back to doing less strenuous exercises like Yoga, and also has to have her diet monitored, although she has reportedly recovered well from the operation.
After Selena made her announcement, Raisa also shared a post on Instagram, writing, "I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life but changed mine in the process." She adds, "This was part of our story, and we will share it soon, but what is important now is that this is not the only story." Check out her post here or below.
