Picking the gals you want to support you on your wedding day isn’t easy. Most brides know that there’s a good chance someone may feel slighted if they aren't asked to be in the wedding party, while others may secretly dread the idea of having to be a bridesmaid. Well, one bride has found a unique way to fill out her wedding party, and we’re pretty sure most people will be horrified by it.
A woman recently turned to Reddit for advice about how to handle her younger sister’s ridiculous decision on how she’s picking out her bridesmaids. The 33-year-old says her sister is actually “auctioning off” spots in her bridal party, including the Maid of Honor position.
“She has sent out dozens of... invitations, to various girls. It's an invitation to attend and participate in a 'bidding auction' on the six spots in her bridal party,” the woman writes. "Whichever six of all these chicks bid the most will be the bridesmaids. There's also an auction for being her maid of honor." The woman says her sister then plans to use the money raised to pay for her wedding and honeymoon, despite the fact that the fiancé’s family is wealthy.
The older sister is refusing to participate, which has angered not only the bride, but their family as well, and the woman asked Reddit for advice on what she should do. As you can imagine, most came down hard on the greedy bride-to-be.
Many suggested the big sister stand firm and not RSVP to the event, while others suggested bidding as little as $1 as a way of showing her disproval or maybe making a donation to charity in the bride-to-be’s name. And while most insisted she not go to the auction, at least one person was curious. “But if you do go, get a video,” they wrote. “I definitely wanna see how something like this goes down."
