The deaf and hearing-impaired community isn’t happy with Jamie Foxx. In case you missed it, he was a guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” As they went to commercial, Jamie started making gestures with his hands that mimicked sign language. However, the actor wasn’t making sense because he was faking it – much to the chagrin of people like Marlee Maitlin.
The deaf Oscar-winner took to Twitter to slam Foxx with, “I’d be happy to give you sign language lessons so you could be funnier.” And “Dancing with the Stars” champ Nyle DiMarco said, “It is straight up disrespectful to make up sign language. Everything is in gibberish.” Nyle also called out Jimmy for allowing it. He also published an open letter to explain himself. So far, neither Jamie nor Jimmy has commented.
