The FDA is warning people on TikTok to not jump on the latest craze on the app because they say marinating your chicken in NyQuil is dangerous. People who push the idea on TikTok call the result of the process “sleepy chicken” and say it helps with cold symptoms.
"The challenge sounds silly and unappetizing — and it is," the FDA says in a statement. "But it could also be very unsafe. Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs."
Apparently, TikTok has tried to wipe the site of references to the 'challenge,' but users are reportedly finding ways around it.
