Britney Spears is proud of her Louisiana roots, and it seems her home state is just as proud to call her one of their own. In fact, someone just started a Change.org petition to replace the state’s Confederate statues with statues honoring the pop singer, and it’s already got over 1,200 supporters.
A woman named Kassie Thibodeaux created the petition, which urges the state to “do the right thing” and “replace the Confederate statues with an actual Louisiana hero," adding, "she's an inspiration to millions."
But Kassie isn’t the first person to suggest replacing a Confederate monument with a music superstar. As we reported earlier, someone has started a petition to replace a Confederate monument in Portsmouth, Virginia, with a statue of Missy Elliott.
